Bath start 2008 with a bang!

Sarah and Caitlin take the British Under 12 duet title!

The year has begun well for City of Bath RGC. We had two duets taking part in the recent National Duet and Trios championships at Burton. Both duets won their age category last year and were hoping for more medals this year. Marnie (12) and Evie (13) took part in the Junior (Under 15) clubs duet. They performed a dramatic and difficult routine to take the bronze medal and were nail-bitingly close to the silver!

But the best came in the Under 12 category where Sarah (10) and Caitlin (11) were now competing after being the Under 10 champions last year. Performing with the longer 5m ribbons, they avoided any major tangles and went through their routine with fast shapes and high throws to deservedly take the Under 12 Title!

A fantastic start to the year for Bath with two medals at a national competition. Well done to everyone!

Lynne and Frankie selected for national squad

As well as this exciting news, we are pleased to announce we have two gymnasts selected into the Junior and Senior National Squads for 2008 - Lynne and Frankie. A fantastic achievement for any gymnast to make the Great Britain squad and two from the same club is brilliant. Many other clubs have achieved multiple places on the national team this year, which helps to make the squad strong ready for the forthcoming competitions.

This year Lynne (13) has an opportunity to enter into the section events for the Junior European Championships, whilst Frankie (15) may have the chance to compete in World and European Cup events in her first Senior year.

With such prestigious events on the horizon, it is now down to business, with more hard work and dedication from the gymnasts and coaches to see what the year may have in store!
