Seven Bath gymnasts took part in the British Open Individual Apparatus Championships this year, held again at Burton on Trent, and between them came back with a very satisfactory haul of nine medals!
On the Saturday, Kate Moseley (Under 9) and Hannah Waite (Under 11) were competing in a national level competition for the first time. Both girls performed well and really benefitted from the experience. Caitlin Brennan was in the Under 11 category too and really showed her potential and ability to take the gold medal in the rope with an excellent routine. Sarah Dennis was the fourth Bath girl in action that day and showed some nice moves in her routines, in particular her ball.
Sunday saw Marnie Calwell and Evie Longshaw competing in the Under 13 category and Francesca Fox in the Seniors. All three girls performed four routines each with Marnie taking three medals - silvers in ball and rope and bronze in ribbon. However, she was pipped to the bronze in the hoop by a great routine from Evie, winning her first ever individual medal at national level. Well done Evie! Frankie made a near clean sweep of the Senior gold medals, taking first place in rope, hoop and ribbon, but just missing out on clubs where she came second.
All in all a very good weekend's competition for Bath and some very good performances to remember!
