British gymnasts from Bath and Birmingham travelled to Holland to compete in a friendly club international in May 2008. The competition had participants from all over Europe including Bulgarian national team member Anastasia Kisse in the juniors and a very promising young gymnast from Sweden in the Hopes category.
The Bath team consisted of Caitlin Brennan and Sarah Dennis in the Hopes (U12) category and in the Juniors (13-15) 13 year old Evie Longshaw and 12 year old Marnie Calwell, accompanied by coach Gina Page and judge Sarah Binding. They were joined by Lisa Higgins from Birmingham (a long term friend of the club as she used to coach Sarah and Gina!) The Birmingham girls were Mimi Isabelle Caesar and Jessica King, both Juniors.
Said Sarah “This was a wonderful experience for gymnasts who have seen their club mates compete frequently for GB. For many of them it was their first opportunity to compete at an international event. I was very proud not only of their performances, but also the way they conducted themselves in their first experience abroad!"
Sarah also commented that the Dutch judges thought Caitlin had huge potential and wanted to keep her in Holland. To which she replied no chance she’s coming back to Bath!
